Department: Region 6 Archives
The Archives Assistant supports the work of the Region 6 Archives of the ELCA by preserving the records of Lutheran history from Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and the lower Michigan peninsula and making these collections available to the public.
1. Answer research inquiries and provide reference assistance; 2. Process archival collections in all formats following Region 6 Archives standards, including rehousing, arranging, and describing materials consistent with Archives procedure; 3. Enter information into inventories and databases; 5. Assist with outreach opportunities, including displays, mailings, brochures, and webinars; 6. Perform shelving, re-shelving, and re-organization assignments to maximize holdings space; 7. Perform other duties, as assigned, to accomplish the goals of the Region 6 Archives.
1. Detail-oriented, punctual, and reliable; 2. Superb communicator in written and interpersonal formats; 3. Technology skills, esp. Microsoft Word and Excel; 4. Ability to work independently; 5. Willingness to learn new skills and develop professional capacities; 6. Ability to lift 30 Lbs; 7. Knowledge of Lutheran history and/or American history in the 19th and 20th centuries preferred.
