The Archives Student Researcher is responsible for answering general archives inquiries and providing research assistance. Tasks include completing research requests; requesting digitization for research projects; tracking research requests; and reporting on research completion to the Institutional Memory Librarian. The Archives Student Researcher assists interns and other researchers with online and in-person research questions. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Answer incoming questions and provide research assistance to interns and other researchers online or in-person. 2. Track research requests and report on research completion. 3. Checking and promptly responding to emails from supervisors, student colleagues, and archives patrons. 4. Request digitization for research projects from Digitization Student Assistant 5. Other duties as assigned.
1. Attention to details. 2. Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills. 3. Good organization and computer skills. 4. Must be punctual and reliable; work availability must coincide with supervisor and scheduling needs. 5. Must be familiar with using Microsoft Excel and Word and navigating Google Drive. 6. Must be able to operate in a team environment, communicate and work collaboratively with student and professional colleagues. 7. Ability to work independently when necessary; ability to understand and proactively solve problems. 8. Ability and willingness to learn new skills. Physical Requirements 1. Sometimes requires pushing carts of books, reaching, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs. 2. Requires lengthy periods of sitting and standing.
